hello all. i'm really hoping that all you wise technically minded peple will be able to help me. my problem is, i want to stream things on the net, whenever i try to listen, the thing skips. i know this is because it is downloading, but i believe there is some kind of tracker thing, you can pause the vidio and when the tracker gets to a certain level, you can resume it and it won't skip. my question is, is there any way this is accessible with jaws so as i might listen to things uninterupted?
I would really appreciate any help
thanks

I don't understand.
You stated that you would like to stream over the net. Which mean, you are providing the source of the stream/you doing the broadcasting of the material over the net.
then you support it by saying that you get skips when you are listening to a stream.
Are you trying to stream? Or do you want help on how to minimize your buffing while listening to a stream online?
Sorry yep, want to minimise skips while listening to streams, should've been clearer bout that! smile
hmm, I don't know what kind of computer you have, what kind of internet service you are with, what sort of download speed you are enjoying, so I can't really make an accurate recommendation.
I say, make sure you have at least 1.5mbps download speed, a good processor/at least 1 gig ram, and a gigabit lan. However, you can get by with a 100mbps as you will never reach that speed with any ISP at the moment, gigabits just prepares you for the future.
Make sure there is only 1 program doing the streaming. Also, if you are behind a router, who else is leaching your internet. do you have wireless? If so, make sure it is password protected so that no passerby can leach on it. Are other memebers of your family downloading while on your router? That too will degrade your speed thus can be a cause to your skips.
There are many factors to which I can not answer do to my lack of information of the aforementioned.
